Why was my item declined?
In general there are 5 typical reasons an item might be declined.
Out of season.
Too old, not stylish.
Poor condition.
Not a desired label.
Not judged to be sellable.
We do not want to debate the merit of the items with you. If you think we missed on a label that is very exclusive let us know and we may reconsider.
Please understand that if Sydney’s declines an item we are not insulting you. We probably have many of the same labels in our own closets. Every business must choose what they will and will not try to sell. We are no different.

How is my item priced?
Consigned items will be priced by Sydney's Consignment Boutique. Usual pricing of consigned Merchandise is approximately 45% to 55% off the original retail price. If you consign high end designer labels like, Chanel, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, etc. we may consider your input in pricing these items. If you have a minimum price you are willing to accept please let us know so that we can determine if we will be able to accept your item. Our ultimate goal is to sell your items for as much as possible while offering reasonable prices for our shoppers.

Does Sydney’s have sales?
From time to time we will feature different sales which may or may not include your items. We will also mark items down as they approach the end of their consignment period in an attempt to get you something for your items.

How do I get paid?
You may come in anytime and collect you balance but we prefer it be no more than once per week. We will be able to pay your balance as of closing the previous day. Any sales for the day you come in will not be reflected in your balance.
You also have the option of applying any or all of your balance to any purchases you may make. There is no limit to the number of times you may use this option each week.

What is a “Special Group”?
Please refer to our Special Group page for a detailed description of this wonderful option.

How do I find out my balance?
It is as simple as checking your email. At closing each day we will send an email to each consignor that sold an item that day. It will list the items sold, the selling price and the amount credited to your account. You will see your updated balance as well as a report of the number of items you still have active at Sydney’s. Of course you may ask anytime you are in the store and we will be happy to give you your latest stats including your balance.

Do you accept high end items?
We will never decline an item because it is “too nice”. In fact we would love for you to allow us to market your exclusive designer items. We are also more flexible regarding the age of these type items. In the case of these big ticket items we will consider your input in pricing the items and will work with you regarding the percentage paid as well.

Are my items safe at Sydney’s
We will of course work to protect and preserve your items so they can be sold at a reasonable price. Obviously the more you make on your items, the more we make too so it is a priority for us. We cannot prevent all possible damage or theft but we will work hard to minimize the occurrence of these problems. To that end we apply security tabs to all clothing to deter theft and protect your items. High dollar items like designer handbags will be kept in locked showcases as well.

What happens if my item doesn’t sell?
You will be notified by email at the end of your consignment period if you have any items that did not sell. You will have 1 week from that notification to pick your items up in the store. Any items not picked up will become the property of Sydney’s Consignment Boutique.

Do you still carry vintage clothing?
Our name change reflects a change in our product line as well. We will still carry some vintage clothing but on a much smaller scale. We will have a backroom that will carry a rotating inventory of vintage items. We will rotate that inventory according to the current themed events our customers are shopping for. Additionally we will mix in select classic vintage pieces with the designer labels as appropriate to expose customers to these treasures.
Of course you can still find much more vintage at SydneysVintageClothing.com and we will be happy to bring those items from our warehouse to Sydney’s Consignment Boutique for you to try on. Still can’t find what you need? Just ask and we may be able to locate it for you!

Do you consign vintage clothing?
Because of our shift in product line we will have even less space available to sell vintage items. If you have an item that is exceptional we will consider it but in general we will not be consigning vintage items, but please let Sydney see it and her be the judge!

Does Sydney’s buy clothing?
Not at this time. Usually places that purchase clothing outright do not give you the seller as great a payoff for your items. In the long run consigning is in your best interest as well as ours.
